With concerts in Karlsruhe and Mannheim on September 9 and 10, 2022, 20 young people aged 13 to 21 will conclude their LJE work phase. This took place from September 4 to 10 at the Bundesakademie für musikalische Jugendbildung Trossingen .
The program of the concerts includes works by the two composers in residence Meike Senker and Ui-Kyung Lee as well as a work by Anton Webern. The artistic direction of the ensemble and the concerts is in the hands of Christof M Löser. He is lecturer for ensemble conducting / practice / interpretation of new music & music theory as well as director of the STUDIO NEUE MUSIK and the echtzeitEnsemble at the HMDK Stuttgart.
Meike Senker composed her work »gedanken zerren« on behalf of the LJE. The audience of the premiere will hear music about which the composer writes: »Flickering and flickering, musical thoughts become words and words become musical thoughts. A little restlessness, a little chaos, a little clarity, a little blur. With the piece, a sonic web of instruments, voice and electronics spans the entire space.«
Meike Senker's world premiere will be flanked by Anton Webern's »Five Pieces, Op. 10« (1911-13) and Ui-Kyung Lee's work »Let Everything That Has Breathed Praise« (2018), which is complexly structured with electronic sounds and characterized by tricky critical and medial musical distanciations from familiar sounds and structures.
The LJE in brief: Since 2014, the ensemble has reformed for one to two work periods each year. During the rehearsals, the participants have the opportunity for an intensive exchange with established musicians and composers from the diverse new music scene in Baden-Württemberg, can establish contacts and work on high-quality performances in a short time under expert guidance.
