Show Your Code! Jia Liu and Patrick Borgeat as well as Olivia Jack and Alexandra Cardenás, who appear as a duo, give exciting performances as part of the live coding concert »CodeLab« in the Cube of the ZKM | Karlsruhe.

The ZKM | Hertz-Lab presents artists from the field of live coding. This way of musicking can be understood as improvisational-algorithmic real-time composition. The composers use a code as an instrument, which they develop effectively »from scratch« during the concert. This compositional technique is used not only on a sonic level, but also on a visual level. When several performers join forces to improvise together, these two levels can be combined to create an audiovisual composition.

As part of the »CodeLab« concert, Karlsruhe artist Jia Liu will perform an audiovisual set followed by another solo set with Patrick Borgeat, who is part of the Karlsruhe laptop ensemble Benoît and the Mandelbrots. The regular concert program will conclude with an audiovisual collaboration between composer and improviser Alexandra Cardenás and developer of the visual browser-based live coding environment »Hydra« Olivia Jack. Following the performances, the concert's performers and members of live coding community Toplap Karlsruhe will jam together.
