Biography

Elke Buhr, born in Bochum in 1971, is editor-in-chief of Monopol, the magazine for art and life, in Berlin. She studied German, history and journalism in Bochum, Bologna and Dortmund and did a traineeship at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. As an editor in the feature section of the Frankfurter Rundschau, she was responsible for the art department. In addition, she published texts in DIE ZEIT, Texte zur Kunst, Art or Modern Painters and wrote partly award-winning radio essays and features for WDR, BR, SWR and HR. She has been part of the Monopol editorial team since 2008, initially as deputy editor-in-chief. Since May 2016, she has been responsible for the art magazine as editor-in-chief.
