Biography

Ted Stoffer is a Belgium based choreographer, performer and teacher. He has choreographed five productions for Aphasia Dance Co., which he formed in 1997, and has choreographed for Les Ballets C de la B (B), Norrdans (S), Ballet Roto (DO), Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln and Frankfurt as well as higher educational institutes in England and Belgium.
He has been an artist in residence at The Place (UK) and recipient of a Jerwood Award for Young Choreographers (UK). His work ranges from audience interactive performance installations, abstract dance performances and dance/theater/musical. His works tour throughout Europe and he is a recipient if the Argos Critics Award at the Brighton Festival in 2008. In 2009, he choreographed »Apenverdriet« for theater director Arne Sierens (BE) and began teaching at the Akademie für Darstellende Künste Baden-Württemberg where he is a regular guest teacher. In 2011, he choreographed two versions of »MacBeth« for Luk Perceval. Currently he is planning another production for Aphasia and two other productions for both Perceval and Sierens in 2012 and 2013.
Since 2002, he has assisted and mentored professional choreographers and dancers. He has conducted workshops and taught for major dance companies and festivals throughout the world such as: »Rosas«, »Ultima Vez«, »Sasha Waltz and Guests«, »Charleroi Danses«, »DV8«, »O Vertigo«, »Carte Blanche«, »Ballet de Marseilles«, »Impuls Tanz« and »La Biennale di Venezia«.
