Biography

Yoreme Waltz is a dramaturge, curator, and producer.

She studied art history, literature, and musicology at the University of Karlsruhe and the Free University of Berlin. She has been working as a dramaturge and producer since 1993, including from 1995 to 2015 at Sasha Waltz & Guests, the Sophiensaele, the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, and Radialsystem Berlin.

As a curator and producer, she worked with Peter Weibel and Christiane Riedel on the exhibition »Sasha Waltz. Installations Objects Performances« at the ZKM in 2013/14. From 2016 to 2023, she curated music and dance at the nationwide Salonfestival and founded the network »Initiative Tanz Karlsruhe« in 2020. Waltz was chairwoman of TanzSzene Baden-Württemberg e.V., the interest group for dance professionals in southwestern Germany.

In addition to her work as a freelance producer for artists, she advises young performers in the independent performing arts on content and organization in formats such as “One to one” by Tanznetz' Freiburg and the mentoring program »FLINTA+« by the Bundesstiftung Live-Kultur, and gives performance workshops at the ZKM Karlsruhe.

Waltz is also an advisory member of the cultural committee of the Karlsruhe City Council and a member of the support group for the further development of the Cultural Office's »Kulturkonzept Karlsruhe 2035« (Karlsruhe Cultural Concept 2035).

In 2022, she founded the dance compagnie »ensemble ben rentz« with choreographer Ben Rentz and developed the projects »ruminate« at Tollhaus Karlsruhe, »crying water« at Marktplatz Karlsruhe in 2022, »transitions - circuit 1« at Fleischmarkthalle Karlsruhe in 2023, »braeburn I&II« at Pavillon am ZKM,  »figuration« at Franz Bernhard Haus Karlsruhe in 2024, and »wunden« at Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe in 2025.
