Open Hertzlab: MARS! Food
Fri, March 20, 2026 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm CET
Hertzlab is going to Mars!
Fancy a mushroom shake and mealworm burger for dinner? What can be made from plants that can thrive on the Red Planet? What does the human body actually need to survive?
Join the members of the Red Dust Society and 3 expert advisors at our open discussion around the banquet table on the topics of:
- Nutrition: Dirk Weber (KIT, Institute of Sports and Sports Science)
- Alternative Foods: Karl Michael Lange (circular.community, Vienna)
- The Social Aspect of Foods: Mai Sarah Bons (Über den Tellerand e.V.)
Sample both Earth and possible Mars fare such as bananas, roasted insects, and survival kit contents. What food can and should we take to space? How important is mealtime when survival is the goal? Let's build a menu for the future.
