Description

In his work, Edgar Knoop investigates the conditions of perception. His works, which are oriented towards the design possibilities of concrete-constructive art, are in a dynamic relationship between science and art. They are characterized by a differentiated color effect as well as the imagination of movement.

The group of color profiles was created in the 1970s. It consists of so-called color space models, which examine the effect of color brightness and color saturation. Starting from a zero level, the parameters mentioned determine the distances, which the artist calls 'color height'. In the Color Profile object, the 'color height' corresponds to the length of the round acrylic glass rods. At their ends, the respective color is applied in the form of a dot. Depending on the viewing angle, the plastic carrier medium is no longer visible. Due to their wavelike arrangement, the color particles suggest movement in space.
