- Description
- In the video work "Violin Power" Steina Vasulka, who trained as a classical violinist, combines audio signal and video image. Thus, the sound waves generated by the musical instrument begin to increasingly influence the video image showing the violinist - initially in concrete cinematic scenes, up to abstract curve images in which neither the violin nor the violinist can be recognized.
At the beginning of the "Violin Power" experiments in the 1970s, Steina Vasulka used scan processors to modulate the sound waves in post-production, but later she worked with a ZETA MIDI violin and the Image/ine software for direct video manipulation in real time.
