Open Data Day
Sat, March 02, 2019 11:00 am – 6:00 pm CET
- Location
- OpenHUB, Atrium 8+9
As part of the »Open Data Day«, the Open Knowledge Lab Karlsruhe, together with the City of Karlsruhe and the ZKM, invites visitors to the »Open Codes« exhibition to exchange information on open data – the key resources for social and economic activities in the digital age.
Open data events will take place all over the world on March 2, 2019 – also in Karlsruhe. Open data (not only from public administrations) and the tools to evaluate it create transparency and enable democratic participation through informed social decision-making. In order to support exactly this, the Open Knowledge Lab Karlsruhe invites interested people for the fifth time to get to know each other and to exchange ideas.
Irrespective of age and technical abilities – anyone can take part at the »Open Data Day« - regardless of whether you have never heard of open data or have been there for years.
We start the »Open Data Day« at 11 am with an introduction to the world of open data using current projects such as »Open Laws« and »Topf-Secret« as examples. Afterwards we will show in a casual sequence which projects have been and will be worked on in the OK Lab.
One focus is the work with the open data that the city of Karlsruhe makes available in its transparency portal. We are showing the first projects on this data, with which we will continue to work over the years within the framework of open transparency cafes.
An overview of the city's current and planned digital participation and information opportunities makes it clear that Karlsruhe is on the right track here.
In between you can ask, discuss and try – we have some notebooks in stock and you are welcome to bring your own.
The »Open Data Day« is a day of action for which local groups organize their own events. Last year (2018) there were more than 400 events worldwide.
