How can we coexist and even interact with non-human creatures in the future?
»The Backpack of Wings« by Hyeseon Jeong and Seongmin Yuk is an artistic research project that explores new relationships with non-human beings. Through speculative future scenarios, the project explores myths and scientific tracking technologies for wildlife. For the development of the project, the artist:ins were in close exchange with the Max Planck Institute for Animal Behavior. In collaboration with researchers such as Hemal Naik, scientific data and discourse were incorporated into and used in the project.
In conversation with Nina Liechti (ZKM), artists Hyeseon Jeong, Seongmin Yuk, together with Hemal Naik, lead researcher of the MELA project at the Max Planck Institute for Animal Behavior, share insights on their work, collaboration, and opportunities as well as difficulties of data from animal behavior research and possible future uses.
