Documentation of Installation Art
Thu, December 01 – Fri, December 02, 2005
- Location
- Lecture Hall
Contemporary art works, which tend to be diversified and often consist of several parts, are subsumed under the heading of installation art. They comprise a wide variety of elements, such as audiovisual and electronic media, net art and performance, which often have close spatial ties or are connected to the exhibition site.
“Plessi-Rad” case study
As it continues to spread and multiply, installation art poses new challenges to the conservation, presentation and management of collections. The Documentation and Archiving Strategies Workshop will study the experience gathered by project partners and international experts with the aim of working out new methods and standards for recording and documentation. One of the ZKM’s contributions to this three-year research project on the maintenance of installation art, which is the most extensive of its kind to date, is the case study on Fabrizio Plessi’s »Tempo Liquido«.
