An etymological blend of the spheres work and love could already be perceived in the 1920s when “working girls” was used to designate both employed women as well as prostitutes. New York’s “Underground House Music,” Chicago’s “Booty Bass,” and Detroit’s “Ghetto-Tech” still use the vocabulary today in the context of barely concealed sexual metaphors (“work my body over”). David Moufang and Thomas Meinecke have “worked” through the repertoire of this music and produced a hypnotic mix from countless samples coupled with statements by dance veterans, dance veterans, drag queens, and DJs.
Following the performance, Thomas Meinecke and David Moufang will DJ.
