Biography

Gaëtan Robillard is a media artist and visiting professor at Gustave Eiffel University (Paris Est Marne-la-Vallée). He is also a doctoral student in University Paris 8. His theoretical research focuses on early algorithmic aesthetics and its impact on contemporary artistic practice. Since 2007, he has been developing installations which examine the relationships between mathematics, language and climatology, while involving interdisciplinary teams. His artistic work has been exhibited in international venues venues such as Palais de Tokyo (Paris), CCS Bard Hessel Museum (New-York), Akbank Sanat (Istanbul), Pearl Art Museum (Shanghai), and ZKM (Karlsruhe). Regularly, Robillard publishes and receives research grants. In 2021 he won the first open call of MediaFutures data-driven innovation hub (European consortium) and became one of its ambassadors. He also participated in The Intelligent Museum Residency with the ZKM and the Deutsches Museum. Two years earlier, he received a research grant from DAAD Germany, hosted by Frieder Nake at the Compart Center of Excellence Digital Art (University of Bremen).
