»Climate Warriors« shows how the exit from nuclear and fossil-fuel energy can succeed. The documentary film by Carl-A. Fechner gives a voice to those who are fighting for a sustainable and just future. An encouraging plea for peace and social justice. The screening is part of the Terrestrial University at ZKM.

100 percent renewable energy - this has long been technically possible. But the global energy transition is faltering, because it means that the money flows of coal, gas and oil will dry up. How can we defy the greed of the energy companies and look to the future of the planet? A global change can only come about through a movement from below!

    More on the Terrestrial University

The »Terrestrial University« is an experimental lecture series in the context of the exhibition »Critical Zones – Observatories for Earthly Politics«, and we cordially invite you to attend the class. In a kind of lecture series of different formats such as lectures, discussions, artist talks, performance lectures or workshops, we turn to the critical situation of the Earth. Together with invited artists, scientists, curators and citizens as well as citizens' initiatives, we explore the »critical zone« - the thin surface of the Earth, in which all transactions of life are mutually dependent. The focus is on the crucial question of which shifts in thinking are necessary to maintain the »critical zone« in its fragile balance.

The Terrestrial University will be broadcasted via live stream, and accompanied by the chat of the Critical Zones Telegram group. You can find the past events of the »Terrestrial University« hereunder.

In his new documentary film »Climate Warriors. The Battle for the Future of our Planet«, mastermind Carl-A. Fechner combines the strongest scenes from his successful documentary »Power to Change« with newly discovered stirring stories of climate warriors from Germany and the USA. Among them are such diverse personalities as the young hip-hop artist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, YouTube personality Joylette-Portlock or Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger. They all fight for the same goal: a clean, fair and safe world through renewable energies.

The 90-minute film will be followed by a zoom discussion with the director of the film and Seraphine Meya, freelance art educator at ZKM. You also have the opportunity to ask questions about the film or to the director via our Telegram Group.

The film will be shown in English with German subtitles. The original soundtrack of some of the scenes is in German. Unfortunately we cannot provide English subtitles for these scenes.

The subsequent discussion will be held in German.
