Biography

Marie-Kristin Meier studied musicology in Hamburg, wrote texts and positions for the »Die Tageszeitung«, commonly referred to as taz, MusikTexte and was active for the festivals MaerzMusik and Musikfest of the Berliner Festspiele as well as for the soloist ensemble »Kaleidoskop«.

From 2014–2016 Marie-Kristin Meier was artistic–scientific assistant at the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics, leading projects and festivals within the framework of the GLOBALE. She curated the festival »sonic experiments« and »raster-noton 20th Anniversary«. She also directed the symposium »Next City Sounds« and the festival »Performing Sound, Playing Technology« in cooperation with the UdK Berlin and the TU Berlin. From 2015–2016 Marie-Kristin Meier was also a guest lecturer in media art at the University for Art and Design (HfG) Karlsruhe.

From 2017–18 she was responsible for the fulldome project »The New Infinity« and virtual reality productions in cooperation with ARTE as part of the Berliner Festspiele's Immersion programme. She is also a founding member of the »Institute for Sound & Music« whose goal is to found a museum for electronic music and sound art in Berlin.
