Biography

Susanne Asche studied German, history, political science, education and philosophy at the Philipps University of Marburg and wrote her doctoral dissertation on the literature of German Romanticism. She completed a traineeship as a high school (Gymnasium) teacher in Hamburg, taught literature and history seminars at universities in Hamburg, Karlsruhe and Tübingen, and worked as a city historian at the Karlsruhe city archives. She was the director of the Pfinzgaumuseum, a city historical museum, and later the associate director of the City of Karlsruhe’s Institute of Local History. From 2003–2007, she headed the Cultural Office of the City of Offenburg. Since 2008, she has served as the Head of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Karlsruhe.
