Biography
Takuro Shibayama completed his postgraduate studies in composition at the Tokyo College of Music and at the Tokyo University of the Arts in the field of intermedia art. He earned an M.A. in music and a PhD in fine arts. His works have been performed and exhibited in Japan and internationally, including at ICMC (Ljubljana, Athens, Texas), ISMIR (Málaga), SMC (Hamburg) and concerts organized by INA-GRM (Paris). Since 2007, he has participated in the founding of the Saitama Muse Forum (SMF) and organized numerous workshops and symposia to connect local communities and art. In 2015, he launched the social initiative “Denshi Onkyo People Project”, which creates experimental electronic music in collaboration with people who have no experience with the genre. In 2017, he was a guest artist and researcher at the ZKM | Karlsruhe. He presented the results of his stay there with a lecture, a concert and an exhibition. He is currently a professor at Tokyo Denki University and Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo College of Music.
