Biography

Born in Stadtlohn, Westphalia; studied in Münster and Berlin; 1993 doctorate in art history at the Free University, Berlin; 1990 German Academic Exchange Service Scholarship to New York; 1990-1991 Fellow at the Getty Center in Los Angeles; 1994-1995 scholarship from the American Council of the Learned Societies in New York; 1998 Fellow at the Summer Institute, Getty Center, University of Rochester; assistant curator for numerous exhibitions on twentieth century architecture and contemporary art, among others for the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst, Berlin, the Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Berlin, documenta 8, Kassel and the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; 1988-1995 academic assistant at the Art History Institute in the Free University, Berlin, engaged in research and teaching; 1995-2001 ZKM Center for Art and Media as well as State Academy for Design Karlsruhe; since 2002 International University Bremen.
