Anlässlich des 300. Stadtgeburtstages hat Peter Weibel erstmals im Jahr 2015 die Karlsruher Schlossfassade mit den SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELEN in einen open space für die Medienkünste verwandelt. Bis kurz vor seinem Tod im März 2023, hat der Medienkünstler und -theoretiker noch an der diesjährigen Edition gearbeitet. Mit dem Titel »Hoffnungshorizonte. Dawn of Devices« vernetzt Peter Weibel die SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE 2023 mit seinem Forschungsinteresse an der Frage zu den Gemeinsamkeiten von Kunst und Wissenschaft.
