Looping on the Ghost Train of Time

For some time the percussionist László Hudacsek has been occupied with the musical-aesthetic idea of a horizontal and vertical time spiral (inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen, among others).
For the performance at ZKM, he has filmed existing chamber music works and initiated new works, together with composers and media artists, for this multimedial aesthetic. The work’s individual percussion voices were recorded in succession. In the performance they will be mounted next to each other temporally and projected as an ensemble onto the screen.
At the same time, Hudacsek will play one of the voices live. The result is not a recording played back as if released from a can, but rather an ensemble-like musical background, in front of which the artist plays in the here and now.
