The ZKM presents a portrait concert of the young composer Martin Schüttler featuring electronic and electroacoustic works that he created during his stay as a guest artist at the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics.
Schüttler (born 1974) is among his generation’s leading composers of instrumental and electroacoustic music. He studied composition with Nicolaus A. Huber and Ludger Brümmer at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen and currently teaches music theory at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt and the Philipps University Marburg. He has not only collaborated with renowned artists and ensembles, but has also carried out composition commissions from, among others, the Takefu Festival Japan, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, and the Darmstädter Ferienkurse, where he was honored in 2002 with the Kranichsteiner prize for composition. Schüttler is co-founder of the contemporary music label “stock11.de” and together with Mark Lorenz Kysela forms the electronic duo "taste." The series “Edition Zeitgenössische Musik” from the German Music Council will publish out a CD with music by Martin Schüttler in November 2009.
This concert will feature, among other pieces, “taped & low-bit” (2002) for counter tenor and synthesizer.
