We present the works of the student fellows that were created during the second Cultural Academy online creative week.
For a long time, due to Covid-19, it was not foreseeable for all partner institutions of the Cultural Academy fellowship program how the two creative weeks provided for in the program could be organized. Not being shy of experimentation, ZKM decided to develop a digital program for the young talents in order to allow the cultural academy of the state to take place at ZKM despite Corona. Thus, the first creative week could already take place successfully in September 2020.
During the creative week from February 15 to 19, the students in grades 9–11 immersed themselves in the digital cosmos of ZKM for the second time. It began with the students deepening the artistic work processes they had learned in the first week and creating their own artistic works. They were technically supported by individual coaching sessions in break-out rooms.
The designers Fanny Kranz and Max Kosoric supported the second cross-media creative program both artistically and in terms of content. In individual as well as group meetings conducted online, artistic ideas were exchanged, new digital tools were tried out and directly incorporated into the participants' own work. The last days of the second creative week were then used intensively to plan the digital exhibition interface and also the presentation of their own artistic work. The creative as well as team-building evening program was accompanied by Julia Merdes and Cedrik Hurst, pedagogues of the Karlsruhe Art Academy.
We now want to present the results of the Cultural Academy – the creative works of the student fellows – in a digital exhibition.
