IRCAM | ZKM
Joint Residency Paris | Karlsruhe
The purpose of the joint residency between ZKM and IRCAM is to promote collaboration between the two institutions through regular artistic projects, which in turn require collaboration between the two institutions in terms of research, technology and art.
The submitted proposals should clearly demonstrate collaborative aspects with both institutions for the project. The work plan of the submitted concept should also make clear the division of the project between the two locations (Paris/France for IRCAM and Karlsruhe/Germany for ZKM) during the project period.
The advantages of a residency are manifold: a residency offers time to reflect on one's practice, to explore new artistic research paths together with researchers, to develop or perfect innovative tools, to conduct experimental artistic research, to produce the prototype of an artifact, the sketch of a piece, to compose a performance, to test a configuration, an innovative technical setup such as a 360 degree immersive audio/video device like the SAT Satosphère or the sound dome of the ZKM.
An international panel of experts, including the heads of the expected host teams, will evaluate each proposal. The evaluation will be based on the originality of the project and its innovative character, collaborative aspects, experience and ability to carry out the proposed project.
