IMATRONIC 2014

This year the Giga-Hertz Award for Electronic Music goes to musician, legendary producer (among others, of Talking Heads, U2, and Coldplay) and multi-media artist Brian Eno. An exclusive concert held by eighty-seven-year-old pioneer of electroacoustic music, Pierre Henry, comprises the highlight of the IMATRONIC Festival 2014, which runs from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 of November at the ZKM | Karlsruhe, as well as the tenth edition of PIANO+. The support and funding of electronic music, and giving new impulses through new acoustic and compositional possibilities is the declared goal of the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics.

From Tuesday, 25 to Thursday, 27 of November, PIANO+ presents current compositional approaches in which the piano is augmented or applied in unusual ways. In addition to the performance of prize winning works by this year’s winners, the results of last year’s Production Awards may also be heard and seen on Friday, November 28. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 29.
