Wed, November 05, 2008 – Sun, November 09, 2008, Festival

The year 2008 has also been a hit for all fans of radio plays: from the 5th to the 9th of November come on over to the ZKM and to the HfG | Karlsruhe! Something in the region of 8.000 radio play enthusiasts took a pilgrimage last year to the "Mecca of Radio Plays", was how the SWR director, Peter Boudgoust characterized the ARD Radio Play Days, which, once again, offers a multifaceted program: public radio events, discussions, workshops, concerts, parties and talks between those working in radio plays and the public. The ARD and Deutschlandradio broadcasting companies present their most recent radio plays.

Highlights in the Framework Program

  • The staged reading of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf by and with Martin Mosebach, Hans Hollmann and Andrea Reuter. "From this folk tale, Mosebach has produced a magical play for the whole family" (FAZ)
  • A euphoric musical experience with Shantel and dem Bucovina Club Orkestar
  • The percussionist László Hudacsek plays, in multimedia aesthetics, among others, works by Xenakis and Stockhausen
  • Acoustic art at the ZKM_Sound Dome
  • The HfG_KlangLabyrinth – a course of sound zones with narrative and experimental radio plays
  • The Radio Play Train by the ARD and KVV rolls through Karlsruhe inner city free of charge: climb aboard, roll along together and listen a competition for five additional radio plays, something that will ensure great excitement during the ARD Radio Days.

The jury of the ARD German Radio Play Prize will be holding public discussions. The winner of the ARD Online Awards will be decided on the Net by active public participation, from the 22nd October, on www.radio.ARD.de. The Magic Eye

With his songs and conférences, the chansonnier, Robert Kreis, evokes the Radio epoch of the 1920s; O-tones, sounds, collages, texts and songs of the radio stage ensembles with a leap in time to the present, and full of satirical gravity, the primal rock of caberet, Jochen Busse, gets himself worked up about the language of the radio and ... well, probably about everything.
