D.I.Y. Learning-Weapon
Context > Theory > Practice > Reflect (Repeat)
Fri, September 23, 2011 – Sun, September 25, 2011, Opening
The »Pinky Show« is an Internet-based, artistic educational project, which discusses contemporary social and political problems, such as the construction of the »other«, the ongoing effects of colonialism as well as the mechanism of exclusion from public institutions, such as the museum. The above themes are presented and treated in comic and video formats, in which animated cats exchange thoughts in straightforward and informal language about the relationship between historiography, ideologies and power. The workshop »D.I.Y. Learning-Weapon: Context > Theory > Practice > Reflect (Repeat)« will take place as part of the exhibition »The Global Contemporary. Art Worlds after 1989« and undertake an examination of the independent forms of critical research and radical practices in education.
Here, focus will be placed on the following questions:
How can »Do-It-Yourself« media productions be utilized as a form of self-education? How can individuals or small organizations help shape society, history and other important fields? What are the theoretical and practical connections between independent media productions and greater humanity?

The workshop does not presuppose any special prior knowledge, and will be held in the English language. A German translation will also be provided. For further information, please see: www.pinkyshow.org
