LIGNA »Zerstreuung überall! – an audio performance«

Experiencing choreographic positions with international radio ballet.

The closed borders and the impossibility to travel lead to an absence of choreographic positions and voices. Public performances are only possible under restrictions. In times of isolationist policies and a return to the national, the piece – as a response to a worldwide event – establishes a new connectedness across national borders and continents: a proposal for a different way of living together in society and caring for each other.

Fourteen international artists were invited by LIGNA to make their voices heard and their choreographic positions experienced in this radio ballet: Alejandro Ahmed (Brazil), Bebe Miller (USA), Bhenji Ra (Australia), Edna Jaime (Mozambique), Eisa Jocson (Philippines), Geumhyung Jeong (South Korea), Mamela Nyamza (South Africa), Maryam Bagheri Nesami & Mitra Ziaee Kia (Iran), Melati Suryodarmo (Indonesia), Public Movement / Nir Shauloff and Dana Yahalomi (Israel), Raquel Meseguer (Great Britain), Yuya Tsukahara + contact Gonzo (Japan). The contributions will be musically connected by a composition by Emilian Gatsov (Bulgaria).

In the radio ballet, the participating audience listens simultaneously but dispersedly to a choreography through headphones. By adopting the gestures of other bodies, the participants' bodies become a place of encounter with »the others« – thus establishing a different relationship between proximity and distance than the digital sphere establishes these days. This collaboration attempts to work together separately, across distances, on models for the future of political collectives.
