How does transmedia storytelling work in live performances? In their workshop, Pep Gatell, president of Fundación Épica and co-founder and artistic director of La Fura dels Baus, and Pedro Lorente, CTO of Fundación Épica, invite you to develop new narrative tools. The hands-on session is aimed at artists and creatives interested in exploring technologies for live interaction with the audience as a second narrative and as a participatory tool via their smartphones.

10am to 10:15am Welcome and short introduction of the Fundación Épica la Fura dels Baus 10:15am to 11am Presentation of Kalliope, the new transmedia storytelling tool developed
in the Epica Foundation
11am to 1pm Collaborative creation of new creative storytelling narratives 1pm to 2pm Lunch break 2pm to 6pm Desing, creation and uploading of the audiovisual content to the Kalliope platform, presentation of the results
Conditions of participation & application
Target audience: Professionals from Science, Technology, Artists and creatives interested in the use of new technologies.
Audience capacity: from 12 to 20 creatives and artists.
Submission requirements: CV (maximum 3 pages in .pdf format) and a one-page motivation letter.
Technical requirements: each participant should bring their own laptop and smartphone with full battery.
The Workshop is an initiative of the European Platform THE NEXT RENAISSANCE from EIT Culture & Creativity, organised by the Media Solution Center Baden-Württemberg (MSC bw e.V.), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg (MWK)
9pm to 11pm: Interactive presentation
Part 1. Interactive presentation of the Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus .
Part 2. »The Tempest at home« based on William Shakespeare’s script.
»The Tempest at home« is the result of a collective, virtual and distributed experiment, carried on between Spain and Mexico, during the COVID-19 locked-down, done in collaboration with the Mexican National Theatre company in co-production with Festival Internacional Cervantino to be premiered during its 48 edition.

Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus is a space for knowledge transfer and mutual learning. Based on processes of collective creativity, the foundation provides a playground for the development of new breakthrough ideas through a horizontal interaction between the arts, humanities, science and technology. In doing so, the foundation draws on the knowledge accumulated by the Catalan, internationally active theatre group La Fura dels Baus in its more than 40-year history.
