The next chapter in the success story that is the »Schlosslichtspiele« will be written in 2017. As part of the »Heimattage Baden-Württemberg« (annual celebration of local Baden-Württemberg traditions and culture), an exciting selection of artistic projects will be presented once again. This year, the focus is on new forms of architecture.

»In addition to »DAS FEST«, the Schlosslichtspiele are developing into our city’s most successful brands«, said the First Mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup as he reflected on the Schlosslichtspiele 2016, and he emphasized »their draw is continuing to grow well beyond the city, and they are making Karlsruhe the centre of events over the summer months for the entire region«.

The artists have already been confirmed:

  • The Hungarian artists' collection »Maxin10sity«, which has already realized projection mappings at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Brandenburg Gate as well as the parliament building in Bukarest
  • Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture formed the art and architecture collaborative Asymptote in 1989 in New York City. Their innovative and visionary works have received global acclaim and were also presented at the Venice Biennale
  • The London-based architectural office Zaha Hadid Architects
  • The internationally acclaimed American architect Greg Lynn, who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2008
  • The Israeli 3D artist and designer Eyal Gever, who studied at the prestigious Bezalel Academy of the Arts and Design in Jerusalem. He received numerous awards for his innovations in the field of multi-media design and technology
  • The artist collective »URBANSCREEN« from Bremen, whose interdisciplinary team is concerned with the dialogue between video art and urban communication. The artist collective has been awarded with various internationally renowned prizes, including the German Prize for Lighting Design in the lightart-category (2011 and 2015)
