ne(x)t_generation 8.5: International Streaming-Festival of the Electronic University Studios

As the largest meeting of university studios for electronic music, »next_generation« offers young composers a platform to present their composition projects and then engage in a dialog with each other. Over 150 students from 24 electronic university studios from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Switzerland participate in this year's special edition of the »next_generation« Festival, which takes place from June 25–27, daily from 6 – 9 pm. The festival will be broadcast online for the first time in a live stream.

The »next_generation« has long been a »net_generation«, which is not least noticeable in the current dynamics in electronic music and teaching. The ZKM Hertz-Lab will be presenting a diverse, live streaming program over a period of three days together with the 24 participating university studios. »ne(x)t_generation 8.5« will focus on the positions and compositions of the students, giving them both a stage as well as a space where they can ask questions and conduct musical discourses with each other. The current conditions of digital music production and teaching are the focus of this and last year due to the advancing digital transformation as well as the inevitable spatial distancing.
