BEYOND 2016 3D Festival
»Future Design Thinking«
Wed, September 28 – Sun, October 02, 2016
In 2011, BEYOND was organised in the city of Karlsruhe for the first time and as the first international 3D festival in the world. With its vision of exhibiting and exploring »a future that has already begun«, BEYOND has provided annual insights into the latest, pioneering innovations since this time, in a triad of science, technology and art. As part of a symposium, in an art exhibition and themed workshops, visitors have the chance to look into these developments.
Symposium
The festival’s theme of »Future Design Thinking« is mainly reflected in the symposium. As a result, it fits into the series of symposiums of past events, which established the main title »Future Design« and pursued the aim of exhibiting and developing perspectives for the future together. The addition of »Future Design Thinking« now introduces the aspect of thinking, which facilitates an idea of the future, free from restrictions, physical or social parameters. Experts from various specialist fields are eagerly awaited, who will think ahead to the future together.

Exhibition
This year’s art exhibition links current international concerns with art and technology. The contentious subject of the refugee crisis will be viewed from a completely new perspective by the container installation »Global-is(ol)-ation« by Gülsel Özkan. Multimedial innovations are also part of this year’s art programme and will be made accessible to visitors by the »Zeitmaschine« installation by Marco Sanna, which sends visitors on a journey through time and the origin of life.
