In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai and Entropia, the ZKM organizes a coding embroidery workshop at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai – the oldest museum in Mumbai. The workshop takes place as a follow-up of the exhibition »Open Codes. Digital Culture Techniques«, which was shown at the Goethe-Institut Mumbai from April 7 to June 2, 2018.

Using computer codes and maths, participants can create their own patterns and shapes and have them embroidered on their own T-shirts or fabrics with a digital embroidery machine.

The embroidery workshop with Entropia is already being offered in Mumbai for the second time. Previously, the workshop took place during the runtime of »Open Codes. Digital Culture Techniques«. The coded patterns of the participants from Mumbai not only served as an embroidery pattern for their own textiles, but were also used at the »India Summer Days« in Karlsruhe in July 2018. There, too, participants had great fun embroidering.
