»For the future!« – the motto of KAMUNA 2023 sets the tone. The 17 participating institutions not only want to preserve culture, but also tell stories for the future and sound the museum of tomorrow.

We will open this evening with a polyphonic program, which will be designed by Karlsruhe residents, communities and initiatives, among others. Be there when the stage belongs to the people!

Interactive installation: »COCOLOCO« by Paul Heinrich Bethge

    Location: Music Balkony
    Time: 6 pm – 12 pm

»COCOLOCO« (2023) by Paul Heinrich Bethge transforms everyday objects into musical instruments. An AI-powered application recognizes objects on a camera image and converts the data into instructions for a handful of instruments. By moving the objectsin space, participants can explore the world of a music conductor. Objects that are thought to be inanimate and numb are animated by being given a voice. The artwork invites us to pay close and unbiased attention to the individual characteristics of each person and celebrate diversity.

    Interactive installation: Nolan Miranda »Catching Sparks«, (2023)

    Location: Cube
    Time: 7 pm – 8 pm / 9 pm – 10 pm / 11 pm – 12 pm

»Catching Sparks« is an interactive audiovisual installation that encourages collaborative jamming. Using nothing but a small keyboard interface and a knob, up to 3 players capture musical tokens that can be consumed, launching a short, spatialized improvisation environment where players can play their buttons as an instrument. Different tokens yield different musical qualities and jam potentials, and players can also choose to redistribute their tokens among other participants in order to try a multitude of different combinations and gestures. Come perform, watch, and share joy; no musical experience necessary!
