Biography

Tuce Alba is an architect, musician, composer, and sound artist living in Istanbul and Berlin. She uses various elements and techniques to build performative spatio-temporal experiences, ambient soundscapes, and audio-visual narratives through sound by employing synthesizers, instruments, field recordings, or any other tool that transforms silence into sound. Her works explore the physical perception and expression of the acoustic environment, as well as the movement patterns of the listeners within it. To do so, she uses textural details created by the relationship between sound and space, improvised spatial compositional structures, layers created with analog synthesizers, and deeply immersive drones and noise sounds. Being an experienced ney player, Tuce Alba also conducts acoustic research to manipulate the boundaries of conventional instruments.
