- In 1971, when the painter Manfred Mohr presented his first computer-generated drawings at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, not only art critics were uncertain concerning the consequences the replacement of brush and canvas by computer and plotter might have for contemporary art, or whether this change would be relevant at all. Mohr himself was exploring concepts and models to explain and defend the change of the medium and to record his first experiences.
The selection of texts from the years 1963 to 1979 follow Mohr’s artistic path – from Tachist painting to the production of images by means of algorithms.
