Fine Dust Sensors and Open Data
The picture shows a fine dust sensor
Sun, August 25, 2019 2 pm – 4 pm CEST, Workshop

The OK Lab Karlsruhe organizes a workshop where the participants build a DIY fine dust sensor and follow the tracks of fine dust measurements in Karlsruhe.

There is only one fixed measuring point in Karlsruhe. We believe that this is better! That's why we distribute our sensors to balconies, gutters and garden shelters all over the city. Together, we can find out where fine dust pollution is concentrated in Karlsruhe and how it develops in your neighborhood over time.

The sensor was developed in Stuttgart, where the database is also operated. With over 3000 sensors, the project is now one of the largest sensor networks operated by voluntary »Citizen Scientists«.

Programming or electronic skills are not required – just a little tact. Kits for measuring stations can be purchased and brought along by the participants themselves. For the workshops, a number of kits are available for free on public occasions. With the registration for the workshop we provide the participants with a kit (only while stocks last)!

Please note: In case of bad weather the event will not take place.
