As part of the 5th edition of #hertzlab, we present artistic productions that are currently being developed at the ZKM | Hertz-Lab which apply methods from AI Research and Development.
The interactive media artwork by Bernd Lintermann and Florian Hertweck »TRUSTAI« addresses the role of digital change and its significance for us humans and society in a dialogical interplay between the visitor and a machine.
As part of the Intelligent Museum Residency, Gaëtan Robillard is developing new software for a data-driven installation that quantifies climate change misinformation. The more misinformation the artificial intelligence finds about climate change on social media, the more heat it secretes via a floor installation. Thermographic cameras show these temperature changes in the exhibition space.
Katrin Hochschuh and Adam Donovan are particularly interested in human-machine interaction and are further developing their »Empathy Swarm« by implementing the AI technique of reinforcement learning: 50 autonomous robots act as a swarm and respond to positive and negative feedback from their environment. As part of the residency, they want to bring their system to life and investigate how the artificial intelligence of the swarm learns and what influence the audience can have on the learning process.
The event will be held in English.
