Crossing the Codes

Together with the International Short Film Week Regensburg, the ZKM is organizing a two-part short film evening with DJ live scoring.  

The terms code and crossing can be interpreted in many ways, refer to the exchange of information and are part of the communication routine.

The problem with all communication is translation and the inevitable inscription of errors. It does not matter between which communication partners information is exchanged. Living beings and machines must decode incoming signals for themselves and react if necessary. In every single moment, meanings shift more or less strongly. From quiet noise, which can easily be ignored, to the total erasure of the content, the misunderstanding.

The short film program shows various forms of code crossing. In the second part of the program, DJs set short films on the topic to music live, giving them a new soundtrack.
