»Glossolalia« refers to the act of speaking in an unknown language or – as in our case – in a language not yet fully known. The words that are needed to thoroughly articulate the realities of »becoming terrestrial«, and all the subsequent implications of new entanglements and relationships, have yet to be defined and enunciated. This collection of words and concepts is needed because it is necessary to understand and describe the Critical Zone we inhabit. Our aim in compiling these descriptions is to provide to our readers and ourselves the verbal tools with which we can specify and understand our territory, subsistence, and experience in the terrestrial. To speak in Glossolalia is to forge a new tongue by becoming terrestrial. We consider this collection a starting point – to set out toward a linguistic common ground.
