Biography

Dr. Andreas Kugel, born 1957, involved in computer science since 1976, is a scientist and lecturer in computer science.

As staff member of the Universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg he was involved in the development of hardware and software for special computer systems of experimental physics at CERN and DESY.

Since 2015, he has been a member of »OK Lab Karlsruhe«, a volunteer initiative to promoting civic participation with open data and digital tools, and since 2019 he is spokesperson of the Karlsruhe Lab within the German »Code-For-Germany Community«.

Since 2017, he has been leading tours and workshops in the field of »Technology and Art« e.g. in the context of the ZKM exhibitions »Open Codes« and »Critical Zones«.

Since 2020, he has been leading seminars on »Open Data« at KIT. In 2021 and 2022 he is a guest scientist in the »intelligent.museum« project .

His research interests include the development and application of advanced digital systems and related mediation methods.
