Khanda Hameed is a Kurdish writer, cultural worker, and feminist activist. Nabaz Samad is a Kurdish art critic and university lecturer. Both come from Sulaimani in Iraqi Kurdistan and are currently fellows at the ZKM | Karlsruhe. On the occasion of the video work »Ombre indigène (Part 2, Martinique)«, by Edith Dekyndt shown in the exhibition »BLACK FLAGS«, they will talk about the situation of women in their home country and the protest movement against the mandatory headscarf in Iran in September 2022. The video, which shows a flag made of black hair blowing in the wind, went viral on the Internet at the time as a symbol of resistance, which ignited after the death of the young Kurdish activist Jina Amini in police custody.
