Description

In his presentation composer Thomas Butler presents his artistic-scientific work with the app »MyCity, MySounds«.
Butler created a soundwalk on the topic of sustainability in which he contrasts the energy consumption of Karlsruhe households with the potential of renewable energies at several locations in Karlsruhe's urban space. The aim of the work is to stimulate a game of ideas on future-oriented urban development processes within a post-fossil energy economy. Butler will present a series of site-specific electroacoustic miniatures. The sound locations are emblematic for the generation of electricity and its consumption.
Many of Thomas Butler's recent compositions deal with the infrastructure that supports our daily lives, including highways, power plants, and the Internet. In this lecture Thomas will present his new MyCity, MySounds work »Karlsruhe Survey«.
