Bodil Marie Stavning Thomson

Biography

Bodil Marie Stavning Thomson is a researcher and professor MSO. She holds a PhD of the School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University in Denmark. Her research is focused on the interdisciplinary connections between media, aesthetics and culture with an emphasis on Lars von Trier's films, real-time video art and new media. She is a leader of the Danish research project »Affects, Interfaces, Events« (2015-2018) as well as a research partner in Erin Manning's Canadian project »Immediations: Media, Art, Event« (2013-20). She is an appointed chairman of the board of the School of Author's in Copenhagen, a member of the board of Journal of Aesthetics and Culture and of Journal of Scandinavian Cinema as well as a member of the advisory board of »The Fibreculture« book series.

Among her most important publications are the articles »The Signaletic, Haptic and Real-Time Material« (2012) and »Die Asta – and the filmic avantgarde« (2013).
