Rima Sium is a hair and make-up artist of Eritrean origin, and she runs the hair salon Afrosisters in Karlsruhe together with her sister Semy Teklesembet. As part of the »BLACK FLAGS« exhibition, Rima will talk about the cultural significance of hair on the occasion of the video screening of »Ombre indigène (Part 2, Martinique)« by Edith Dekyndt, which shows a flag of black hair blowing in the wind and will share her many years of expertise with doing curls, weaving, dreadlocks, and extensions with us. Current trends in Afro hairstyles will also be discussed, as well as black empowerment and her social commitment confronting ignorance and racism.
