IMATRONIC – Festival of Electronic Music 2013
Wed-Sat, November 27 - 30, 2013 at the ZKM | Karlsruhe
With this year’s bestowal of the Giga-Hertz Prize, the audience may expect spectacular works and fascinating presentations. Thus, an American and a French composer are to be awarded first prize for their life’s work. Both composers have made history in the field of electroacoustic music. In addition, the focus of SoundArt has now been substantially expanded to include three prize winners and is thus honored in its contemporary importance. In addition to the concerts forming part of the award ceremony, four concerts with twenty works as well as four premier performances for piano and electronics will be held over the preceding three days. Among others, these include important works by composers such as Alvin Lucier, Tom Johnson and Luc Ferrari, but also the new composition by the award winner of 2011, Anthony Tan. The award ceremony evening culminates in the presentation of a fulminating overview of artistic output in the field of electronic media. From dance performances with noise music, SoundArt presentations on space music in the ZKM_Sound Dome through to live electronics and pieces produced by the SWR EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO - visitors will find spectacular works and exciting presentations.
