Vassilis Tsianos
Biografie
Vassilis Tsianos, PhD, is a lecturer in theoretical sociology and migration studies at the University of Hamburg. He was previously a senior researcher at the Mig@Net research program and research fellow with the project Transit Migration (Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany) investigating the border regimes and structures of labor in southeast Europe. He has published numerous books, including, most recently, the coauthored monograph »Escape Routes. Control and Subversion in the 21st Century« (Pluto Press, 2008), and was coeditor of »Empire und die biopolitische Wende« (Campus, 2007) and »Turbulente Ränder. Neue Persektiven auf Migration an den Grenzen Europas« (transcript, 2007). His publications on mobility studies, critical urbanism, and antiracist movements have appeared in »Citizenship Studies«, »European Journal of Social Theory«, »Peripherie«, »darkmatter«, »Multitudes«, »Boundary 2«, »Sozialsysteme«, »1999. Zeitschrift für Sozialgeschichte des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts«, and »Texte zur Kunst«, amongst other journals.
