The storyline of the film is based on the dystopian novel of the same name by Philip K. Dick written in 1977. The entire film recording has been subsequently digitalized using rotoscoping.
Concealed as Robert Arctor, Fred investigates the drug dealing scene. Thanks to his »Scramble Suit«, his anonymity is maintained, which leads one day to his receiving the task to carry out surveillance on drug addict Robert Arctor – and as such he is instructed to monitor himself.
