New piano sounds will also be plumbed in the Piano+ concerts at the ZKM. The prelude is comprised by Florian Hölscher (piano) and Anne-Maria Hölscher (accordion), who on Thursday will be setting different accents with works by Nikolaus Brass, Uros Rojko, Oliver Schneller and Marco Stroppa.
Counting among the highlights of the concert year 2009 will be the premier performance of “STRAHLEN” by Karlheinz Stockhausen for the anniversary festivities, 10 years of the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art in the bays 1+2 in the Hallenbau. For this composition several thousands of single tones of a vibraphone were electronically processed. At the end of this, the public may expect an additional item by the pianist Ciro Longobardi, winner of the Gaudeamus competition in Rotterdam and the Kranichsteiner Prize in Darmstadt, as well as by the internationally successful composer Agostino Di Scipio. Among others, during the late concert afterwards, the sound of three toy pianos will be heard as played by Rei Nakamura.
In addition, the composer and performer Gero König will present his instrument "Chordeograph 2," composed of an aluminium frame, 37 strings, 32 laser lines, strips of wood, metal and glass, and also introduce the audience to graphic scores in foreign worlds.
The old friendship between music and fine arts will be celebrated on Saturday. You will have the opportunity to experience “Expanded Art.” Following the opening of the anniversary exhibition “just what is it...” at the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, a premier performances with a work by Christoph Ogiermann will bring the festival to its conclusion.
