Da sich digitale und elektronische Kunst immer weiterentwickeln, stellen sie traditionelle Archivierungsmethoden auf die Probe und machen es nötig, sich ständig an neue Technologien anzupassen. Der 5th Summit on New Media Archiving bringt Wissenschaftler, Praktiker und Archivare zusammen, um über die Erhaltung und Archivierung von Kunstwerken der neuen Medien zu reden – ein wichtiger Teil unseres kulturellen Erbes. Dieser Summit ist eine wichtige Plattform, um die theoretischen und praktischen Herausforderungen zu besprechen, die mit der Archivierung von Kunstwerken und Veranstaltungen der neuen Medien verbunden sind.
Der 5th Summit on New Media Art Archiving ist eine gemeinsame Initiative der folgenden Partner: ISEA Symposium Archives, ACM SIGGRAPH History Archive, Archive of Digital Art (ADA), Ars Electronica, Electronic Language International Festival (FILE) Archives, MEMODUCT Posthuman Archive und ZKM Archives. Diese engagierte Gruppe will Archive auf der ganzen Welt miteinander verbinden und die Archivierung und Erhaltung von Kunstwerken der neuen Medien verbessern.
