Since 2014, a war has been simmering in Ukraine, destabilizing the country and traumatizing its people. Reservists like circa 50-year-old Oksana, who left the army highly decorated after her service as a soldier, struggle with the psychological consequences of their experiences. Because when the body appears outwardly intact, psychological injuries often go unnoticed - by doctors as well as by the victims themselves. Oksana suffers from anxiety and extreme panic attacks and is one of the few who can have her post-traumatic stress disorder treated under medical supervision in Ukraine. The film accompanies the strong, reflective woman on her way back to life and impressively shows how indelibly the war eats into one's life.

»No Obvious Signs« was awarded at the following international documentary film festivals: DOK Leipzig 2018 (for the outstanding Eastern European film), Docudays.UA 2018 (four awards: from the jury of the international competition Docu/Right, Ukrainian Helsinki Group, festival partner Currenttime.tv and the prize of the distribution company »Letter to fest«), Verzio International Human Rights Festival, Hungary (prize of the student jury); according to the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre, the film is one of the 100 best films in the history of Ukrainian cinema.

The film was shown in Germany, Italy, Canada, Hungary and Poland. The presentation at ZKM will take place on ZKM Open House 2023 as part of the exhibition »On the Boundary of Two Worlds«.
